Very quick update

Day 2
  • No suggestion of a headache.
  • No neck stiffness.
  • Feeling alert.
  • Sipping small quantities of water.
  • Drank single Vodka last night, mixed with lemonade.
  • No cheese.
  • Some chocolate 2 days ago, with lunch.
  • No leaning my head on my hand.
  • Stress under firm control.
  • Feel sad, but not overwhelmed.
  • Clearing my Eustachian tube regularly with old-fashioned snorting remedy.
  • Aware of posture, concentration levels and sugar in take.
  • Eating nothing before bed (used to have a bowl of cereal).
  • Taking HRT and Evening Primrose oil capsule before bed with 2 gulps of water.

Something strange happened to our dog yesterday that has caused his condition to deteriorate.  He went out for his usual walk with DH and when they returned he was behaving very strangely, kind of zonked-out and seemed to be walking in a funny way?

He stood staring at the garden back gate for a long time.  We took him out again, to find that he wanted to walk round the house again and come in through the front?  It was very frightening for us, we knew something was wrong but just had to watch him closely and wait.

He remained standing facing the door for about 30 minutes, he looked very dazed.

After I bathed him and dried him with two warm towels he shook for about an hour and just stared at me in a frightened way.  I kept running my hand down his back to see if he had any contortions or strange swellings?

We were pretty shocked at how altered he was, he was not really responding to anything but seemed to be suffering something from within?

My DH walked off saying "We've done the very best for him..."

I remained close by and stroked his head and kept telling him "Its alright".  He's deaf, so I hoped he would lip-read, as he has learnt to do.  I used to tell him that when he was a puppy.

Later on, I caught my husband crying.  He looked down as I walked into the kitchen and tried not to let me see.  I think he didn't want me to get upset and maybe get migraine and stuff?

The dog ate his usual breakfast and seemed better after that and even played with his stuffed toy and DH, all of that was very reassuring.

Then later, when he went to follow DH up the stairs, he seemed not to be able to use one of his back legs that well, it just couldn't bear his weight.  He stopped half way up the stairs and just stared at me.  I stroked his back and showed him that I was not going to leave him.  That seemed to help.

DH said "Its OK, he's forgotten how to do it that's all, he'll remember in a minute" (This is from the man that said there was nothing wrong with the dog and 'it was in my head', if you recall???)

Later he returned to being spaced out and kept licking and scratching for a very long time.  (The Vet told us she had seen dogs that scratched so much in this condition, they even made their paws bleed...)

I just said to DH that we need to keep him as calm as possible and not let him fret at all.  He agreed.
