Yesterday I ended my love affair with HRT - if you can call it that

In a bit of rush here....

Private Doctor
I went to see my private doctor - he charges £70 for half an hour, but he usually only gives me 10 minutes - which is a whole three more minutes than the GP!

I went with a little script prepared.  I told him I'd been taking HRT for 17 months and my migraines had become completely unbearable and I had to stop.  I told him the problem was the fake progesterone part, the progestin, not the horse's urine, hence my migraines happened while taking that part of the pack. I added that in my opinion, they had gotten worse because I had probably ceased ovulating, hence I was now totally dependent on a synthetic hormone that I did not get along with that raised my blood pressure, distended my carotid artery and caused me to vomit and have diarrhoea.

I told him my menses were extremely heavy and I was routinely rendered severely anaemic by them, and afterwards have to take liquid iron.

I told him I wanted him to prescribe a lower dose Oestrogen, and that I wanted Natural Progesterone Cream for transdermal absorption, because that way it would by-pass the liver and also be 10 times more effective, even at very low doses.

He listened then rolled up his sleeves.

"I tell you what" he said, "I'll send you to see a private Gynaecologist and he can fit you with a progesterone coil that will ensure your menses remain light and quite soon stop".

I said to him "what about the migraines?", he didn't reply and started writing things down.  I repeated the question and he was evasive and said words to the effect that he would prefer me not to throw myself from a bridge than have migraines?

And there you have it.  The man is a complete dork-ball!

When I got home I looked up this coil thing that he suggested and low and behold, what does it contain: the one and only, nothing beats it......drum roll.............levonorgestrel!

Yes people, his intention is that I should be internally implanted with Progestin, after my hellish 17 months with crippling migraines because of that damn concoction.................he must think I fell out of a tree!!

There is no way on this entire earth that I am ever having anything more to do with fake progesterone, aka progestin!

So, I've decided to take Dr J Lee's advice and use natural progesterone cream (from wild yams) and look at dietary supplements and exercise and 5-HTP(tryptophan) to solve my problems.

I am really angry at the cheek of that man.  I suppose when I see the Gynaecologist, he'll peer down his nose at me and suggest that in his esteemed opinion, my only option is to have a hysterectomy.

Ladies, men love to declare the need for a hysterectomy when there isn't one.  The worst thing you can do for your health is to have a hysterectomy.

As far as I'm concerned I don't have Gynaecological problems and no QUACK is going to convince me to be mutilated.

I started taking HRT because my mother took it for 15 years and during that time she hardly changed.  It left the impression on me that if you want to stay young, you take the horses urine.

How was I to know that it wouldn't suit me AT ALL.

And in fact, I was looking back at some photos taken of me last summer, and guess what, I didn't look fantastic, in fact i looked awful and that was while taking this supposed elixir of life.

I have driven myself to the very brink of what a human can endure pain wise.  In fact the good thing to come out of this is that my pain threshold has increased manifold.

My SERENITY cream arrived the day before I went to see him and I can't wait to use it.

......................I'm sorry to sound a bit upset here, but I actually HATE MEN for a large part of the time.

They make us feel like shit for growing old.  And the first sign of any disturbance (i.e. if you answer them back) they holler that you MUST BE IN NEED OF OESTROGEN.

Well it turns out that's the last thing I need, and from the age of 35, which is when we usually start to feel tired, downtrodden and ill-used, I probably made very little Progesterone, hence the terrible PMS.

This is the BIG misconception that people and - ESPECIALLY MEN - have.  That from 35 you have less Oestrogen.

That is a total lie.  In fact perimenopausal women often produce too much Oestrogen during those years and their REAL PROBLEM is opposing the more harmful effects of  Oestrogen, with insufficient progesterone.
